Obsessed Final Cut

Obsessed Rough Cut Feedback

We have received the following feedback about the following things;

-"It would be better if you put some sound throughout the sequence as there isn't much used"
-"More editing and effects should be used to attract peoples attention, and it would make it look more interesting and it would make people want to watch it more"
-"I like the flashing images of the face because it makes you want to know what the connections are between the two people"
-"the end of the sequence where the person walks off is good because it makes you want to keep watching to find out what he is going to do"
-"There could have been some more mise-en-scene that relates to horror apart from just the knife, but other than that i thought it was good"

For our final cut to improve on these points we will be putting a soundtrack to it throughout the sequence to go with the mood of the scene and to make it a bit more scary, we will also be editing it a bit more and putting effects in such as flashes and making it black and white, this is also so that people cant see the photographs at the beginning properly and to make them want to know what the person is looking at, we will also be editing it to put more black and white in so that there are more horror conventions and to make it more dark and unknown. We cant really put more mise-en-scene in although we are going to edit it so that it is slightly darker so that the lighting is one of the horror conventions.

Nine Screen Analysis of an Opening Sequence

These nine images are taken from the opening sequence of Texas chainsaw massacre, and these images indicate that it is a horror film. Because the images are in black and white it makes the atmosphere look dark and dull.

In one of the images we see an evidence bag, and this straight away suggests that a crime has been committed, more than likely a murder.

The use of the dark corridor with a bit of light at the end is a convention of horror, and makes the viewer feel trapped and vulnerable, this also suggests the film as being a horror.

The picture of the house at a distance with no surroundings also makes the viewer feel scared as there is no atmosphere around it and it looks very deserted, which is a convention of horror.

The police tape also suggests danger, and it is also in negative which makes it stand out more and it indicates what has happened or what is about to happen.

All of these images give clues to the film being a horror and what has happened, although it still leaves the audience scared about what is going to happen next as this is typical of a horror film
